Information Orillia Volunteer Services Coordinator
Information Orillia is looking for a paid, part-time, 32 hour/month, volunteer coordinator to be responsible for recruiting volunteers and volunteer opportunities. The volunteer coordinator’s responsibilities include recruiting and training new volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed, and conveying the organization’s purpose to the public. The Volunteer Coordinator will also be responsible for setting up a Volunteer Club and will work to improve volunteer recruitment and plan volunteer management and opportunities to community groups.
A successful volunteer coordinator should be passionate about volunteer work and meticulous about keeping records. You should uphold the values of our organization while ensuring the comfort of our volunteers in their positions.
Recruiting, training, and supervising new volunteers
Collecting volunteer information, availability, skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database
Promote volunteering and its benefits across Orillia and the surrounding area
Keeping new and existing volunteers informed about the organization and volunteer opportunities
Matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skill sets and ensuring they understand their responsibilities and receive the proper training
Establishing a Volunteer Club
Organizing training and leading on-the-job training
Keeping schedules and records of volunteer’s work
Preparing codes of conduct and operating procedures to uphold the organization’s values
Ensuring the organization’s purpose is conveyed to the public
Provide monthly written reports and updates about projects to funders and Information Orillia Board of Directors
You are a retired senior (60+)
Experience in volunteering and in the recruitment of volunteers
Able to train and orient volunteers for various opportunities
Experience establishing and chairing a volunteer committee and Volunteer Club
Working knowledge of databases
Ability to work as a team or independently
Able to work with diverse participants
Experience with office administration duties including answering phone calls, replying to emails, office organization, time-management, attention to detail, multitasking and inter-department communication
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
General proficiency with computers, including the willingness to learn how to use Microsoft Office 365, Google Drive, Survey Monkey and touch-technology
