Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.), OPP

S.A.L.T is a community-based program in partnership with the OPP with a goal of reducing crimes against seniors through raising awareness. The program uses an advisory council composed of a committee of seniors, seniors’ services providers and police officers. The purpose of this council is to propose resolutions to crime-related issues and develop preventative programs for the senior community.

 

Positions Available

Chair: Be charged with the general management and supervision of overall policies and affairs of the program (some duties include: approving the agenda for meetings, act as CEO in all day-to-day affairs, attend and facilitate elections at the Annual General Meeting)

 

Executive Chair: In the absence of the Chair, assume those duties. Oversee all areas of the S.A.L.T program in conjunction with the Chair. Serve as liaison between the Board of Directors of S.A.L.T and community partners. Signing officer for all legal instruments relating to financial matters.

 

Secretary: Keep accurate minutes of all meetings.Keep all yearly records accurately and orderly for the Board of Directors. Distribute required documents (agenda, minutes, etc.)

 

Treasurer: Maintain and keep financial records relating to S.A.L.T. Deliver financial reports at all regular meetings. Be a signing officer on legal instruments relating to financial matters. Deliver formal financial statements as needed (for example: Annual General Meeting).

 

Program Coordinator: Organize and coordinate community outreach programs and Contact Information for OVC 2 educational meetings regularly. Secure community partners to facilitate relevant educational material and community events and meetings.

 

Marketing Coordinator: Create social media campaigns, strategies, content ideation and implementation schedules. Creation of online content relating to S.A.L.T using social media platforms, website creation and community partner media platforms.

 

Fundraising Coordinator: Be proactive in writing and submitting grant applications at Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels to secure funding for S.A.L.T. Coordinate fundraising efforts amongst community members to afford further funding opportunities for S.A.L.T.
