Land Acknowledgement

Information Orillia serves the City of Orillia and the surrounding townships of Ramara, Severn, and Oro-Medonte, as well as the independent Rama (or Mnjikaning) Reserve occupied by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, one of the Williams Treaties First Nations. We wish to respectfully acknowledge the long and enduring presence and stewardship of Indigenous peoples in Canada and on our region’s land

Information Orillia is located on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg. The Anisinaabeg include the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi nations, collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy. In acknowledging that we occupy colonized Indigenous territories, we accept our collective responsibility to recognize our colonial histories as well as their present-day manifestations in order to honor, protect, and sustain this land and its peoples.
