Information Orillia supports people through Wayfinding and Financial Literacy utilizing highly skilled staff and well trained, supervised and supported volunteers.
Wayfinding: From simple requests to system navigation, Information Orillia provides access to reliable, accurate and critical information for people who cannot access it themselves.
Financial Literacy and Supports: Information Orillia’s annual Income Tax Clinic, financial managment and budgeting programs assist individuals to access Canada’s tax programs and adjust to changing life circumstances.
Advocacy: Information Orillia is Chair of the Orillia Community Action Network (OCAN), helping coordinate service delievery, advocate for clients, and solve highly complicated situations.
Creating a More Caring Community: Information Orillia engages, supports, and trains students and volunteers to assist in meeting the needs of our most vulnerable citizens.
Information Orillia provides a phone messaging service for people seeking employment but who lack access to a personal telephone or messaging service.
For those requiring special assistance, or with complex needs, we are able to provide support in navigating the process by assisting individuals to complete and understand complex forms and documents. We also offer a needs assessment and referral counselling.
Community Income Clinic
Information Orillia provides an annual income tax filing service for people with low to moderate-income on a sliding scale throughout the year. For example: Our average client has an income of $17,500 and they would pay $10 for completion of their tax return. No one will be turned away from services if they cannot afford the fee.
In 2021 the Income Tax Clinic completed more than 700 tax returns and our clients saw more than $1.5 million in refunds and rebates (GST, CPP, OAS, GIC, etc.)
Information Orillia’s Income Tax Clinic has supported many individuals with multiple year tax returns (eg. 10 years of returns).
Weekly Rental Housing Listings
We supply individuals and families with the current, up-to-date weekly housing lists for Orillia and the surrounding areas. These resources are generously provided to us by Empower Simcoe. Come by our office pick up a copy of the current week’s list or email us to have it sent to you.
