Leacock Museum

Leacock Museum National Historical Site, the historic home of Stephen Leacock, famed Canadian humor author, on 9.5 acres of grounds made up of wetlands, forest and waterfront. The home is kept as it was at the turn of the century and has been made into a museum dedicated to the life and works of Leacock as well as literary and Orillia history.

 

Positions Available

Collections: Assisting our museum staff with collections includes, but is not limited to, researching objects/artifacts, historic figures, and historic events. Cataloging, organizing, and handling artifacts under the supervision of museum staff. Assisting in the set up and tear down of exhibits.

 

Tour guides: Assisting our museum staff with tours includes, but is not limited to, guided tours of the house and grounds and research on tour topics.

 

Programs/events: Assisting our museum staff with programs and events includes, but is not limited to, hosting, planning, and executing events and programs for a wide variety of age groups, creating activities and crafts to go along with programs and events and assisting in the marketing of the programs and events.

 

Gardens/groundskeeping: Assisting our museum staff with gardens and grounds includes, but is not limited to, planting and harvesting the vegetable garden, grounds upkeep, flower garden maintenance, weeding and light maintenance of physical buildings.
